Louis Vierne (1870-1937) Complete Organ Symphonies Vol.3

from the website of Aeolus Recordings:
"The phenomenal Stephen Tharp plays Louis Vierne's late Symphonies Nos. 5 & 6 on the legendary Cavaillé-Coll organ of Saint-Sulpice in Paris! An extremely promising combination ...

Over the past years, AEOLUS has produced the first four organ symphonies by Louis Vierne with the titular organist of Saint-Sulpice, Maître Daniel Roth. These recordings were highly praised and received many important awards.
For the two late symphonies Op. 47 and Op. In 59, Daniel Roth very thankfully left the monumental 5-manual organ console of "his" unique Cavaillé-Coll to his younger American colleague Stephen Tharp, who is very familiar with this organ: it's breathtaking to see how easily and virtuosic Tharp makes use this powerful instrument."

Composed in memory of Jehan Alain, nods towards Alain, Duruflé and Cochereau are heard throughout, in hommage.
